Ace of Cups, reversed

Today's card for Scorpio, drawn from the date and the sign. Everybody reading this page today sees the same card.

A hand from cloud holds a cup with five streams pouring out, more than five senses could account for.Ace of CupsReversed

The Ace is emotion offered before it has a shape. An open heart, a feeling arriving, love in its unformed state. The cup is already overflowing, with five streams pouring from it, more than five senses could account for. **Nothing on this card has to be earned or produced.** The only question the tradition puts is whether you will take what is being held out, which is a smaller question than it sounds and one people decline more often than they notice. Every ace is a beginning without a form yet. This one is specifically the beginning of feeling, which means it describes potential rather than a relationship, and reading it as a person is the commonest mistake made with it.

Reversed meaning

The heart closed. Emotion blocked, repressed, or spilled uselessly. The three are worth separating. Blocked is temporary and usually protective; repressed has been going on long enough that the person cannot locate the feeling at all; spilled is emotion arriving everywhere at once and landing on nobody, which exhausts the person having it as much as anybody near them. Also read for **love offered and refused, or offered somewhere it cannot be received.** The card reversed is often not describing a fault in anybody. Some cups are held out to people who are not in a position to take them.

This one belongs to Scorpio

Ace of Cups is Water, the same element as Scorpio. Not one of the sign's own five cards, but the same temperament.

  • blocked emotion
  • repression
  • closed heart
  • unrequited

What this card actually knows about you

The date and your sun sign. That is the whole input. It is drawn deterministically from those two things, so every Scorpio sees this same card today and it cannot be re-rolled into something nicer.

It is deliberately not weighted toward Scorpio’s own five cards. Drawing from a pool of five would repeat inside a week and would be a lookup table wearing a shuffle. When the card that comes up does belong to the sign, which happens on its own roughly a third of the time, the page says so above.

If you want a card that responds to an actual question, draw one yourself. There is also one card for everybody, drawn from the date alone.

For reflection and entertainment. Not medical, legal, or financial advice.
